Fwd: Parade Information

Hi all:

Here is the info on the parade Thursday. See the email below and the attached info. For those of you who have done this before, it is similar to previous parades, except maybe the parking. Here are the main points:
-- Wear class A uniform.
-- Families are welcome to march alongside. (Tigers need an adult partner at all events.)
-- Close-toed shoes required FOR EVERYONE (scouts and family members, too)
-- We will start at the lawn in front of UH Maui off of Kaahumanu Ave. The entrance by the main gate will probably be closed. There are usually a ton of Scouts around there, so just look around till you find Pack14. I will look for some shade for us to wait in.
-- They said to park at the stadium at the end of the parade route. This is pretty far from the start, so that doesn't make a lot of sense to me... In the past, parking was by the recycling center off of Wahinepio in the drive-in movie field. They said there is no parking in the "back lot", but I'm not sure what that means... Anyhow, that's the info I have.
-- The parade starts at 4:30pm. They say the road closes at 4:15, but it seems like it was shut down earlier in past years. I would suggest folks show up by 4pm at the latest. Given the confusion over the parking, you might want to shoot for earlier.
-- We will march down to the end, and we usually finish up by the baseball stadium. After that, they usually give out passes to the fair.
-- Bring water and wear sunscreen.
-- There is always a lot of standing around waiting for it to start... Any volunteers to prepare an activity that doesn't require a lot of props?

Aloha All,

Attached are some PDF's with info on the Parade.

There are more than 5,000 people registered to march in the parade this year!

Please plan to arrive at/ around 3pm and check in with Ginny Hertz at the grass area #16 (see attached map sheet 3)

Please drop  your scouts off on the back of the college off of Wahinepio Avenue (Swap Meet Parking lot) and have them pass through the college to the meeting area.

NO Parking in the back parking lot.  Please park at the War Memorial Complex where the parade will end.

Kaahumanu Ave Closes at 4:15 to vehicle traffic.

Parade begins at 4:30 PM SHARP!

We are not allowed to pass anything out along the parade route.

Attachement #4 shows where we will exit the road after the parade.  Please walk all the way in so we do not block other groups from entering the parking lot after us.

In Scouting,

Robert Nakagawa
