Re: Reminder - pack meeting on Wednesday

I knew I forgot something! I added an important section on badge reporting. If you were at the meeting, you know about this. If not, I added it to the meeting announcements (in the hyperlink from the email below). thanks.

We will make & decorate Raingutter Regatta boats. If you've never made one, it is the sailboat version of a pinewood derby car. Bring any artistic embellishments you might have that you want to add. The boys can race these at the upcoming Scoutorama. Details on that at the pack meeting.

Hi Velva,

and Aloha from sunny Illinois!

Thanks for contacting me, and I'll be happy to have your scout troop adopt
one of our soldiers. In addition to my scout activities with Soldiers'
Angels, I also work
with medics who are deployed overseas. I'm always looking for someone to
adopt them, so they will have goodies to share with their units.

Here's a medical unit that just came to me asking for support. Please let
me know if your troop can commit to adopting them. If you can send a package
every month or two,
that's fine. Your troop wont need to take care of all 60 soldiers, I'm
lining up other volunteers to help, as well.

Samantha Swearingin
A Co, 3-1 STB
TF Valiant
FOB Salerno
APO AE 09314

she will be there until December 2011

Samantha Swearingin is 1 of 4 medics (2 gals--Samantha and Whitney, and 2
guys--Charles and Warren)--they go on missions almost every other day to
another FOB. They are responsible for 60 soldiers. They just got there,
and will be in A'stan till 12/11. Sometimes they get back late from missions
and the dfac (Dining facility - "mess hall") is closed so they are not able
to get anything to eat that evening.

Requests:

-a Basketball--and basketball air pump to keep it inflated
-candy (suckers, hard candy, etc. - no chocolate until October, since it is
too hot there now)
- lil debbie snacks
-beef jerky--especially teriyaki flavor
-micro mac n cheese in bowls
-Other snacks are always welcomed: cookies (Girl scout cookies are great),
nuts, dried fruit, pop-tarts, etc.
-goody bags (sandwich-size ziploc filled with candy, granola bar, gum, etc)
for soldiers to take with them on missions.

-And of course, cards and letters from kids are very much appreciated.

If you will send me your mailing address and the number of scouts in your
troop, I'll send you some Soldiers' angels bracelets so your kids will know
they are part of
my team.

Thanks!
Roger

Reminder - pack meeting is NEXT week

Hi all:

Just a reminder that the pack meeting will be on the FOURTH Wednesday in March, or March 23rd. We will be making Raingutter Regatta sailboats.

We normally meet on the 3rd Wednesday, but we switched it to avoid spring break.
