It has a sticker on it that says $76, for whatever that's worth. I will sell it for $25 with the proceeds going to the Pack. I will refund your money if you set it up and aren't happy with it.

According to the weather analyst at my work, the outlook for tomorrow is much better. We will be returning to trade winds shortly, but it is too early to know exactly when that will happen. For now, the party is still on, but you might want to check your email tomorrow for more information. On Sun, Dec 5, 2010 at 1:33 PM, David Askov <davidaskov@mauipack14.org> wrote:

You can also give them to me at the party, or contact me for my mailing address. Checks should be made out to "Pack 14". Dues are $40 for Tigers, Bears, Wolves, and Web1s. Returning Web2s owe nothing and new Web2s pay a prorated $20.3) Badges: You should be on track to earn your year's badge (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, Arrow of Light) by the camp-out Feb 18, 2011. If not, Christmas is a good time to knock out some requirements. The absolute deadline is June, but there will be a badge ceremony at camp, and it is highly desirable for all boys to be recognized. Subject: Popcorn online sales
In case you didn’t have the attached info, here is a report of on-line sales for our council thru 11/8/10. These sales are eligible for scout awards/prizes, and the amounts should be added to the scout's record in the box provided on the SCOUT page of your popcorn system site, before you compile your prize order.
This will also affect the scouts' eligibility for our Council prize drawing - for every $500 in sales, the scout gets his name in the drawing pool for one of 3 prizes. See the popcorn info sheet you received at the beginning of the sale for information.
If you have already submitted your prize order to the council and need to amend it for any particulate scout, please let me know. We have not yet sent the prize orders out to Trails-End for processing.
We extended the on-line sale to 11/20, but only 2 units had scouts who sold during that period. We have notified them separately.
Congratulations to all the scouts who took part in our sale!

I am for saving money and using the old kits for our Pack.
Anyone who wants to compete can buy an extra one. I think they are 10 or 12 $$.

Yes, the current/new car kits are for sale at Maui Sporting Goods or the Council office. We usually buy them for all the boys, and the Pack bears this cost. We have a bunch of older kits already, so this will save us money.
Whatever route we go, then ALL boys need to use the same kit, so nobody has an advantage or disadvantage. Honestly, I don't think most boys would even notice the difference. The old kits are almost the same thing.
If you are interested in racing in any Council events (few boys ever show an interest in this), then you would need to use the new kits. Boys that want to do this can buy one of these kits and make a second car. We can have the track open for testing and trials, but we're not running more heats with multiple cars per boy... The event already takes long enough!!!

Pinewood Derby time is almost upon us! As I was cleaning out the closet recently, I came across gobs of older Pinewood Derby car kits. I haven't counted them yet (especially the little parts), but guesstimate that we do have enough. These aren't the new "official" kits, but if all the boys use them, then it seems fair. This would help the Pack save money for the kits, as well as clean out the closet. The only problem I can see is that the cars (probably) wouldn't qualify for Council races, but few boys ever seem interested in those anyhow.
Note that the parents & siblings categories raced these kits last year, and they worked fine.
So, if I determine there are enough kits, I am hoping to use these for the race (Jan 29, 2011) and can pass them out on Tuesday. Please advise ASAP if anyone has major heartburn over this and we can discuss it. Whatever we do, I'd like for all boys to race the same kits, so they're all starting from the same materials.

This weekend is our Olowalu Camp-out! Normally, we dedicate an entire pack meeting to pre-camp-out announcements. Since we weren't ready at the last meeting, this email will be long, but it contains many NEW pieces of information, even for those of you who have been in the pack for a while. I do need you to read this end-to-end.PLEASE RSVP IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO. WE REALLY ONLY NEED TO KNOW WHICH MEALS AND HOW MANY ADULTS/CHILDREN.First, here are the main rules & regs. More details in the email below.-- No swimming outside of designated lifeguard hours-- No pets-- No alcohol or drugs-- No boys with knives-- Close toed shoes - unless you're on the beach or in the water-- Scouting has rules on child safety as it pertains to sleeping arrangements. Be prepared to be flexible on this.-- Don't show up before 5pm on Friday.Adult supervision:1) Tigers always need an adult partner for each boy (our twins can come the same parent, however).2) If you cannot be there, Wolves, bears, and webelos can be supervised by another adult. Every child must have a specific adult supervising them.3) Please do not try to supervise more than one extra child. If you bring more than one child from your family (siblings), do not offer to supervise another Scout.4) A dedicated adult partner is required for each Wolf or Bear Scout after 8pm (though one parent can cover siblings). Webelos can stay overnight without a parent, but need to follow the sleeping arrangements rules below. When: We will start Friday at 5pm. Do not show up early, since the camp has an activity going on that lasts until 5pm. Camp will end after trash pick-up on Sunday. You may stay until the Camp staff kick you out.Where: Info and directions are here http://www.campolowalu.com/find-usCost: Free, paid for by popcorn! Also, muchos mahalos to Bill for arranging this and getting us a discount (it might even be free). We will pass the hat for a tip for camp staff.Sleeping arrangements:-- The simplest thing to do is to bring a tent for your family! The more people who tent, the less we have to deal with...-- There are cabins, and we are going to have to figure out a way to handle sleeping arrangements that fall within BSA guidelines for overnighters. In short, no adult should ever be alone with a Scout who is not their son. A scout sleeping in a tent/cabin with any adults must also have a parent present. Be prepared to be flexible, as we may have to juggle which adults share a cabin with which boys, etc. Just because you got there first and staked out a certain cabin doesn't mean we won't ask you to move.Schedule:-- Friday 5pm on (no earlier): Free time, campfire. Friday night is usually smaller numbers and intentionally unstructured.-- Saturday AM: Family activities. (Fishing, work on badge requirements!)-- Saturday 10:45am: Safe swim defense-- Saturday 11:15am: Pledge of allegiance-- Saturday 11:30am: Lunch-- Saturday 12-3pm: Swimming-- Saturday 3:30: Depart for hike to petroglyphs-- Saturday 6pm: Dinner-- Saturday evening: Campfire-- Saturday 9pm: Lights out-- Sunday 7am: Breakfast and camp clean up-- After camp clean up, we are done. You can leave at that time, or families may want to spend the day there. Please note that the Camp staff may ask us to move along at some point...Water Safety:-- Swimming will be from 12-3 on Saturday.-- Unfortunately, we no longer have a lifeguard in the pack parent pool, so we can't have swimming all weekend. If there are any parents with current lifeguard certification, please let me know!-- We will have a sign out/in for anyone leaving the campsite. Please use this.-- Once you leave the campsite and the beach right in front of it, you are on your own as a family in terms of water safety and responsibility. There are other beaches, kayaks, places to fish, etc, but we can only offer a lifeguard in one spot.-- The same applies to swimming after camp ends Sunday. Feel free to stay and do as you wish, but there will be no lifeguard.-- The pack leadership will do what we can to prevent anything dangerous that we see. That said, it is each parent's job to supervise their child and keep them out of the water outside of swimming hours.-- We will practice BSA safe swim defense. We will cover this as a lesson, but since I can't ensure every boy is present at a given time, I strongly suggest you click on that hyperlink.Food:-- Bring mess kits! Boys with mess kits will go first in line. The pack has some paper plates and plasticware that I will bring, but I am not guaranteeing there will be enough for everyone. Eating off of disposable dishes is not the Scouting way, so everyone is encouraged to bring a mess kit.-- Friday dinner and saturday breakfast you are on your own for food. They have a fridge you can use. We will probably have a camp fire later if you want to cook that way.-- We will provide lunch & dinner Saturday, plus breakfast on Sunday.-- We need a few people to cook dinner Saturday that will mean missing the hike. Also, we need some early risers for breakfast Sunday.-- We have stopped doing sign-ups for jobs. Recently we've found that if everyone helps equally, then we can get it all done. If not cooking, there are dishes to wash and floors to sweep. Don't wait to be asked...What to bring?-- Close-toed shoes-- Class A and B uniforms-- SUNSCREEN-- flashlight-- swimsuit, towels, etc.-- food for Friday dinner and Saturday breakfast-- scout book-- sporting goods (frisbee, football, fishing gear) - we will have some free time Saturday AM-- water bottle-- this is car camping, so pack what you'd normally bring along (changes of clothes, toiletries, medications, personal items...)Your ohana is welcome.Hopefully I haven't forgotten any other info. I'm sure there will be at least one more email before Friday...

Velva,
We will do our best to be there at about 12:30-2:30, as Gato tests for his orange belt in aikido that morning and then the bear den has an outing that afternoon.
Count us in. I think a 2 hour time slot is the maximum for us, anyway, so that should be perfect.

Aloha Velva,
Thank you for reminding me.
Shion (Bear) and Hugh(Tiger) would like to join Wallmart from 11-2:30. Except Hugh will leave earlier than 2:30. Either Ben or I will be there with them.
Sage from Tiger den will join around 12-2.
We can not stay any later than 2:30, but can come earlier, let me know if you need more people @9.
Thanks.
Hiro

RESULTS OF LAST WEEKS SALE AT PUKALANI FOODLAND WILL FOLLOW LATER TODAY.
Hard to fit everything in, sorry.
Boys are scheduled at WALLMART this Sunday, November 7 from 9:00 to 4:00. Please e-mail when your son can be there with or without the parent. This is our last big push. I hope that all of those that have NOT participated are doing some door to door sales. We have product to move!! Please support our boys.
We have Camp Olowalu the next weekend which is a real treat if you have not been. At that time we will be addressing the proper time and usage of a knife. There is a lot to be said on this subject.
Please respond with your schedule.
Thank you,
Velva
