Re: Pinewood Derby announcements
Hi everyone. A couple of announcements regarding the Pack meeting and the Pinewood Derby.
1) The email below this contains the main details you need, so read from the bottom up.
*** Pack meeting on Friday at 6:30 - the track will be set up for the boys to do some trial runs after the meeting, so bring your cars (NO WET PAINT PLEASE)
*** Check-in and the weighting station will be Saturday from 10:00-11:00, with the race starting at 11:30. If you need to make adjustments to your car, plan to be there earlier than if you just need to check in.
2) WE NEED VOLUNTEERS - please reply. Will be setting up the track Friday at 3pm and showing up Saturday at 9am to get ready.
3) There will be a potluck Saturday. Bring a dish to share (not just pupus), items needed to serve your dish, and MESS KITS. The pack has a limited amount of disposable plates/plasticware, but no guarantees there'll be enough.
4) Can we get some volunteers to run some games/activities during the race? It needs to be something they can leave at any moment to race in a heat.
5) Don't put numbers on your car yet. You will be assigned a number at check-in. We will have some stickers if you've lost yours.
6) There doesn't appear to be a defined front or back to the car, like the other kits which have different measurements to the front/back axles. Just face them whichever way you like.
7) We will have races for the fastest car and the coolest car. There will be divisions for each den, plus a siblings/friends and a parents/adults division, as well as prizes for the overall winner from the Pack.
See you Friday, David

I will bring some to the party.Note that WE ARE NOT USING THE STANDARD KITS YOU CAN BUY IN STORES so get one from us in order to compete. That said, some boys spend a lot of time on their cars, so in the interest of fairness, we do have a check-in that will ensure the cars meet these rules.-- We will have the track set up the night before and will be available to make minor adjustments to your car.-- You may use glue/epoxy to hold the nails in place in the slots.
